The first single from Norwegian creative dúo, Hrada, featuring Peter Espevoll and Åsmund Janøy.

Peter is known for his stunning vocal work with the ever-evolving Extol, bringing lauded albums like Burial, Undeceived and Extol to such vibrant life. Åsmund will also be familiar to fans of Extol – known as a filmmaker, he worked with the band on their expansive DVD Extol: Of Light And Shade.

Hrada sees Peter creating his first new music in eight years and Åsmund collaborating musically for the very first time. Gospel Oak is the first single taken from the forthcoming Hrada debut album and the first music that the two musicians have sent out into the world.

Recorded with the assistance of an array of supremely talented session musicians, Gospel Oak is mature, measured, rich and dramatic, overflowing with beautiful harmonies yet touched by shadows and darkness. It’s an enthralling song which reveals more of itself which each listen, more nuances, deeper textures, additional layers of sound.

It’s a brave and brilliant opening gambit from a duo whose chosen name, Hrada, means ‘to create’ in old Norwegian – and that urge to create, one which Peter thought might have been lost to him forever, is what drives them.
